This week’s presenter is Julie Cramer, PhD. She works as Technology Commercialization Associate at the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute. The Innovation Institute connects Pitt innovators to the programs, services, and funding they need to assess the commercial potential of their innovation or big idea and accelerate on the path to market. Her specific role is to act as a liaison between the University and UPMC in regards to commercialization alliances. In this role she manages technology and project flow, evaluates technology for suitability for the alliances and for intellectual property protection. She works with multidisciplinary teams in the University, UPMC and external partners to move commercialization projects forward and draft legal agreements that govern those relationships. Recently, she also became Licensing Manager on a portfolio of technologies which may be licensed to a University start-up company in the future.
