On behalf of the organizing committee, I am happy to announce that registration is now open for the inaugural Gender in Science and Academia Symposium hosted by the UPMC Hillman Women's Initiatives Taskforce (WIT) to be held on January 18, 2023 from 9AM to 5 PM at the Assembly Building in Pittsburgh, PA.
We hope you will join us for a day of conversation surrounding gender in science and academia. Gender is often improperly defined because it only refers to an individual's sex at birth. The goals of the symposium are to (1) generate productive conversation around the issues linked to gender and academia, (2) highlight national, international, and local speakers that focus on sex differences in cancer, and (3) create an actionable list of goals to reduce disparities in academia and science. Acknowledging that gender is not just male or female, we encourage participation from individuals of all genders at this symposium.
We truly hope to see you there. The attached flier is a summary of the program for the day, and the registration link is also copied below. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Of special note, if you cannot secure daycare to attend the reception, you are welcome to bring your children to the evening event as long as they remain accompanied by an adult at all times.
